Joucas is a lovely terraced village built on a hill facing Roussillon and its ochre colours. Joucas is a little haven of peace for those who want to discover the somptuous landscapes of the region, well away from tourisitic agitation that other villages in Luberon usually suffer from. Joucas has nice and little winding streets with cobblestones where you can freely go for a walk. You will enjoy the sight of beautiful stone houses, and many places full of flowers, discovering the charms and numerous architectural details of the village.
Located to the south of the Luberon region, 40 kms away from Avignon airport and train station, and one hour’s drive from Marseille/Aix-en-Provence Airport, the region known as the one of the “Perched Villages” is one of the most beautiful in France, with the villages of Gordes, Oppédé and Roussillon. They all are located near Gorges de la Véroncle and the markets of Provence d’Apt Coustellet. Ideally situated in a quiet environment, it is the perfect place if you want to discover this beautiful region of Provence, that has been described so well by the writers Marcel Pagnol, Jean Giono, and Peter Mayle, and whose unique light and colours have inspired the French painter Paul Cézanne.
